God first created LIGHT: Genesis 1:2-5 says, "Then God said, "Let there be LIGHT"; and there was LIGHT. 4 And God saw that the LIGHT was good; and God separated the LIGHT from the darkness. 5 And God called the LIGHT day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day."

Then, God created the two great LIGHTS and the stars: Genesis 1:14-19 says, "Then God said, "Let there be LIGHTS in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for LIGHTS in the expanse of the heavens to give LIGHT on the earth ";and it was so. 16 And God made the two great LIGHTS, the greater LIGHT to govern the day, and the lesser LIGHT to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give LIGHT on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the LIGHT from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day."

Jesus called His disciples The LIGHT of the World: Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the LIGHT of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 "Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives LIGHT to all who are in the house. 16 "Let your LIGHT shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. "

After correcting an initial problem with the lens, when the Hubble Space Telescope was first launched in 1990, the floating astro-observatory began to relay back to Earth, incredible snapshots of the "final frontier" it was perusing.

(28 million light years from Earth)
was voted best picture taken by
the Hubble telescope.
The dimensions of the galaxy,
officially called M104,
are as spectacular as its appearance.
It has 800 billion suns
and is 50,000 LIGHT years across.

The Ant Nebula,
a cloud of dust and gas whose name is Mz3,
resembles an ant when observed
using ground- based telescopes.
The nebula lies within our galaxy
between 3,000 and 6,000
LIGHT years from Earth.

or Nebula NGC 2392.
It's face is surrounded by a furry hood.
The hood is, in fact, a ring of comet-shaped objects
flying away from a dying star.
Eskimo is 5,000 LIGHT years from Earth.

The Hourglass Nebula,
8,000 LIGHT years away, has a
pinched-in-the-middle look because the winds that
shape it are weaker at the centre.

(the equivalent of 23 million return trips to the Moon).

The Perfect Storm,
a small region in the Swan Nebula,

of hydrogen and small amounts of oxygen,
sulphur and other elements."

It is a halo of LIGHT around a
star in the Milky Way.
